Land Acknowledgement
The students, faculty, and staff of the Department of Biology at Acadia University work and learn in Mi'kmaki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq people. The Treaties of Peace and Friendship, signed between 1725 and 1779 by the Mi’kmaq, the Wolastoqey and the British Crown, set a foundation of sharing. We strive to create an inclusive, supportive work and learning environment, where all employees and students can share and grow in their strengths. We are grateful to live and work in Sipekne’katik, a biologically rich and beautiful part of Mi’kmaki. We are all treaty people and have responsibilities to each other and to this land.
