Grow as a scientist
One of the great strengths of the department of biology at Acadia is for students to gain hand on experience with research throughout their program.
Explore how you can get involved through volunteering, research courses, co-ops and the Honours program below.
There are many opportunities to volunteer and gain experience in science even in your first year. Ask faculty and staff about volunteer opportunities in research labs, at K.C. Irving Centre (herbarium, seed bank, tissue culture labs, greenhouses, etc.), with Department of Natural Resources, etc. Volunteering is a great way to discover new interests and make connections.

Research & Thesis (4th year)
The biology with honours program provides students with an enriched training in Biology in their final year of study. It includes a course in the intellectual origins of modern biology, and a research course over two semesters (6 credits) where they will work under a supervisor’s mentorship, obtain and analyze data, and present their research in a thesis format.
